At the 14th annual Smoky Mountain Invasion, an event that is less of an off-road meetup and more of a holy pilgrimage for folks who consider asphalt a personal insult, the brand unveiled the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Smoky Mountain Edition. This marks the tenth installment in Jeep’s relentless “Twelve 4 Twelve” series, a year-long marketing spree designed to honor its rabid community with limited-run variations of its iconic trail-crawler.
Based strictly on the four-door Willys trim, the Wrangler Smoky Mountain Edition doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it certainly decorates it. The exterior boasts hood graphics inspired by Tennessee’s misty peaks, 17-inch smoked black wheels, a gloss-black grille, and body-color hardtop and fender flares.
For those who insist on letting the elements inside while conquering suburban speed bumps, the Sky One-touch power top remains an option. Yet beneath the aesthetic flourishes lies a real-deal off-roader: 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires come standard (with 35-inchers optional), paired with heavy-duty steel skid plates, front and rear Dana 44 axles, a locking rear differential, a 4.10 axle ratio, and a mandatory tow hook.
Step inside, and Jeep’s design team clearly went wild with local folklore and marketing poetry. The cabin features heavily textured black Ferndale cloth seats anchored by Soulmate cloth bolsters, topped with an embossed graphic of a 1941 Willys descending from a parachute. Terracotta stitching and Blaze Orange accents break up the dark cabin, hues Jeep earnestly claims mirror sunrise over the Great Smokies.
