The 2027 Ram Rampage introduces a flex-fuel engine for the first time in a Ram pickup, a significant technical development that reflects the strategic importance of the Brazilian market in the model’s growth. The engine in question is the 2.0-liter Turbo Hurricane 4 Flex, which Stellantis Tech Center South America developed to run on gasoline, ethanol, or any blend of the two fuels. It keeps the same 272 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, figures that make it one of the benchmarks in its category.

To adapt the engine for dual-fuel operation, Stellantis had to revise numerous components, including the turbocharger, fuel pump, engine control unit, injectors, exhaust camshaft, spark plugs, intake manifold, and cylinder head. The company also added a dedicated ethanol sensor.

That represents a major development effort, made necessary by the widespread use of biofuels in Brazil and by the need to ensure the engine maintains its efficiency, reliability, and performance regardless of the fuel used. With the arrival of the flex-fuel version, the 2.0 Hurricane also returns to the Laramie trim, while Ram continues to offer the R/T exclusively with this engine. The 2.2-liter turbodiesel remains in the lineup as well, producing 200 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque for the Big Horn, Rebel, and Laramie trims.

Alongside the mechanical update, the 2027 model-year refresh also brings improvements in comfort and safety. The R/T and Laramie trims now include as standard a memory system for the power-adjustable driver’s seat, allowing drivers to save two different positions either through the door controls or the infotainment system. Buyers can also add this feature to the Rebel as an option.

On the Big Horn, which serves as the entry point to the range, Ram introduces new driver-assistance systems that include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, active lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam control. Those features join a safety package that already includes six airbags, stability and traction control, trailer stability assist, full-LED headlights, and four-wheel disc brakes.

The 2027 Rampage will reach Brazilian dealerships in April, reinforcing the growing role of this pickup, the first Ram model fully developed and produced outside North America, in the brand’s regional strategy within Stellantis.
