Chrysler has launched a new recall involving 178,246 Pacifica and Voyager models from the 2022 through 2026 model years because of a possible defect in the side curtain airbags. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler estimates that about 30 percent of the affected vehicles may actually carry noncompliant components, which would bring the number of vehicles truly affected down to just over 53,000 units.
Chrysler launches a major recall over side curtain airbags in Pacifica and Voyager

The issue involves curtain airbags that, if they deploy in a crash, may fail to maintain enough internal pressure to properly protect occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Chrysler has been tracking this problem for some time. The filing notes that other vehicles from the same family do not fall under this specific recall because they were built outside the suspected production period or were already included in one of two earlier actions tied to a similar issue.
To fix the defect, Chrysler will replace the affected airbags with components capable of maintaining the required pressure. Depending on the individual vehicle, the repair may involve the passenger-side curtain airbag, the driver-side curtain airbag, or both.

Chrysler will begin notifying dealers on April 2. Starting on that date, owners will also be able to check the VINs of affected vehicles through NHTSA’s online systems. The company expects to mail official owner notifications between May 14 and May 19.
